> What is Short Throw?

Short Throw projection is the ability to project high quality large images over considerably shorter distances than normal throw projectors. This is especially beneficial when trying to project in tight spaces or small rooms.

An example of Short Throw, with a distance-to-width ratio of 0.5, the projector would need to be positioned 0.5m from the screen to achieve a 1m wide image.

> Why choose Short Throw?

There are many benefits to the Hitachi Short Throw and Ultra Short Throw range, including virtually shadow-free projection, long-life lamps and filters to reduce the total cost of ownership and minimise maintenance requirements, low noise levels and extensive security features.

> Health & Safety

Through our extensive research and development, we have ensured that Hitachi Short Throw and Ultra Short Throw projectors meet the recommendations of the following advisory bodies:

  • British Educational Communications and Technology Agency's (BECTA) recommendations on education projectors.
  • Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) guidelines for the safe use of projectors in the classroom.
  • British Standards Institution’s (BSI) standard for the installation of audiovisual equipment (PAS 122: 2009).

With our products we ensure that:

  • The beam is situated as close to the screen as possible to avoid a direct beam shining into the presenter's eyes.
  • Standing facing into the beam is minimised. In fact, with most of our Short Throw and Ultra Short Throw projectors, the beam is naturally located behind the presenter.
  • By offering a Short Throw wall or ceiling-mounted solution rather than a normal floor or table-mounting solution, projectors are located out of the sight line from screen to the audience, thus eliminating the need to stare at the projector lamp.
  • If table-mounting is required, our projectors are designed to sit so close to the screen that the presenter would not need to stand in front of the beam.
